Developing the Services Sector for Economic Diversification in CAREC Countries
This study underscores the potential for greater economic diversification through robust development of seven key services subsectors and industries in members of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program.

Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations (FCAS)

ADB's Strategy 2030 recognizes the distinct development challenges of FCAS, and promotes a differentiated approach to these groups of developing member countries. Under Strategy 2030, ADB will prioritize its support by providing long-term financing and capacity-development assistance to help build resilience and address causes of fragility or conflict. The differentiated approach under ADB’s Strategy 2030 builds on ADB’s long-standing support for development in FCAS, which emphasizes the importance of understanding the local context, making a long-term commitment to development, ensuring country ownership, and being flexible in responding to challenges.

For ADB's operations during 2019, Afghanistan is classified by ADB as FCAS due to the country being affected by conflict.

Economic Forecast

GDP forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.

Results of ADB-Supported Operations

Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.

Projects Cofinanced

Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects. Additional funds are provided in the form of official loans and grants, technical assistance, other concessional financing, and commercial cofinancing such as B loans, risk transfer arrangements, parallel loans and equity, guarantee cofinancing, and cofinancing for transactions under ADB’s Trade Finance Program.
